The Party is Officially Over

When the Christmas decorations are put up, I'm the hero.

When the day comes to take the decorations down, I'm the villain.

Wikipedia defines "villain" thusly:

A villain (also known in film and literature as the "bad guy", "black hat", or "heavy") is an "evil" character in a story, whether a historical narrative or, especially, a work of fiction. The villain usually is the antagonist, the character who tends to have a negative effect on other characters. A female villain is sometimes called a villainess (often to differentiate her from a male villain). Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines villain as "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel; or a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot".[1]

Yup, that about describes it. And I'm so glad I was able to use one of my favorite words, thusly, so early in the new year. (Note to Dad: Leave me alone on this word!)

Christmas 2011

Hours before we left for Michigan, Uncle Marty and Aunt Brenda came by for a visit.

They live in California and were spending Christmas with Brenda's nephews in the Colorado Springs area.

So instead of packing, the kids and Brian went sledding in the snow that fell not long before.

It was very cold outside, so they didn't stay outside for more than 45 minutes.

But it was fun while it lasted.

And We're Back (After a Very Busy December)

Looking forward to posting some of the hundreds of photos Hannah took of our vacation. But in the meantime, here is one picture of our Christmas.

Trying Out The Trim- lace, beads, etc.

First picture is the historical dress on which this pattern is based. It will be interesting to see how much Abby's dress will resemble the "real" , historic one.

And Abby appears to be knitting with Hope's hair.

It's Starting To Look Like A Dress (Finally)

The bodice is just the lining at this point. The skirt needs a waistband and a hem.

The sleeves are being held in place. But at least it looks more like an article of clothing today.

Grandma Jo leaves for Slovakia next week to visit her daughter and her family over Christmas and she needs to get Abby to the point where she can finish the dress on her own. Can she do it?

Let us only hope so!
